(Web Desk) - In China, a couple was put to death for tossing their two kids from the fifteenth story of a tall apartment building in Chongqing.

On January 31, Zhang Bo and Ye Chengchen, his girlfriend, were put to death. The horrific act that was perpetrated in 2020 has been denounced nationally.

Zhang's partner killed his two-year-old daughter and one-year-old son because they appeared to be ‘obstacles’.

Zhang met Ye online and the two were having an affair. He kept his two children a secret from her.

The reason for this is that Ye had informed him that if he had kids, she would not live with him. He had consented to a divorce from Chen Meilin, the mother of his children and wife. But soon, she found out about Zhang's children.

Early in 2020, Zhang and Ye started preparing to murder his children. They had talked on how to execute the murders over WeChat, a well-known Chinese messaging app.

They had made up their minds to pretend the deaths were an accident. When their mother was not around, Zhang flung his kids out the apartment window in November 2020.

A Chongqing court found Zhang and Ye guilty of deliberate murder in December 2021 and sentenced them to death.

The pair had contested the decision. The pair was put to death on Wednesday, January 31, after the execution sentence was eventually affirmed by China's top court, the Supreme People's Court.

Following the couple's execution, a vintage image of Zhang "grieving" over the deaths of his children went popular on social media. Reactions to Zhang and Ye's death swamped the Chinese social media site Weibo.
